Specifically for Teacher/ECT/Trainee members we are offering access to Understanding Anaphylaxis, a free, self paced, accredited and certificated online course. Content written and endorsed by experts and is delivered via the award-winning learning platform - TES Develop by EduCare. This course is designed to complement, rather than replace, the training put in place by your workplace.
This course will help you to understand anaphylaxis and the severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reactions that trigger it. This course has been endorsed by the School and Public Health Nurses Association.
Course content
- A look at what anaphylaxis is, along with the common causes like nuts, milk, eggs and medicines like aspirin, antibiotics and general anaesthetic.
- The possible signs and symptoms of someone suffering from an anaphylactic reaction, as well as the different ways that reactions can present themselves.
- A look at the different treatments for anaphylaxis.
- Helpful information on dealing with anaphylaxis as well as a video and detailed information on what you should do if someone begins to have an anaphylactic reaction.
- Details on what you can do to reduce the risk of anaphylaxis.
- Information on alternative medication and the increased risk of anaphylaxis from poorly controlled asthma.
- Procedures for emergency medication including information on who you can administer it to and when to call the emergency services.
- Further information for schools such as details on individual healthcare plans and staff who should be aware of symptoms and emergency procedures.
- A collection of helpful resources to expand learning
Adding you to the Understanding Anaphylaxis course is a manual process. This is only done during working hours (Monday - Friday 9-5). Once this is done you should receive an email with your log in details from TES not from an NEU address.
Make sure you check your junk mail as the log in could have gone there.
Access to this course is flexible so you can complete in your own time. The course is written by experts and accredited. On completion you can download a certificate for your training portfolio.
Time frame to complete the course and download your certificate is by midnight 17 July 2026.
